Our Starter's Blend is excellent for animals transitioning to a healthier, fresh foods diet. It is rich in vitamins and minerals, soothes the digestive tract and gently detoxifies the body.

• When switching to a fresh foods diet, we recommend that you use the Starter's Blend for about 2-4 weeks, during your transition period. It can be used for up to three months.
• Starter's Blend is meant as a transitional, occasional and intermittent supplement and so we ask that you not use it daily for more than three months.
• May be used for short periods to facilitate periodic cleansing and detoxifying.
• Use whenever there is acute stomach upset as it is a soothing, nourishing blend suitable for calming upset tummies.
• It has been referred to "Herbal Pepto-Bismol" becasue it coats, soothes and protects the GI tract.
• It can be prepared and fed as a sweet, tasty nourishing porridge to supplement any diet.
• Feed exclusively for short periods of time of fasting to aid in healing and recovery from any illness or debility (after surgery or serious illness). In this case, you may choose to add to warmed raw goat milk with a little raw local unfiltered honey or bone broths.
• Because of the anti-cancer properties of the herbs used in this blend, it is uniquely and ideally suited for animals undergoing cancer treatments or experiencing symptoms related to cancer treatments or after treatments to aid in recovery and facilitate detoxification.

Each of the carefully selected and combined herbs used in Starter's Herbs have very a long history of safe use with many different, multifactorial applications and actions on the body with a great number of benefits. A few key factors are listed below:

SLIPPERY ELM BARK: Native American nourishing food and healing nutritious porridge that acts to coat soothe and protect the digestive tract. A good source of fiber, antioxidants and fatty acids, it is a wonderful herbal mucilage, made of nutritious carbohydrates. It regulates the bowel, helping with both constipation and diarrhea, It increases mucus secretion in the gastrointestinal tract, which has a protective effects against ulcers and excessive acidity. Can help with inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

PEPPERMINT LEAF: Cools, settles and calms the digestive system; relieves symptoms, such as gas, bloating, cramping, nausea, constipation, and indigestion. It has been shown to be helpful in small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) as well as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and proves more beneficial than placebo in clinical trials. 

DANDELION LEAF: Nutrient dense food; a mineral rich natural diuretic that contains potassium which maintains safe levels within the body while working to gently remove excess fluids and supporting overall detoxification pathways as well as good renal (kidney) function. Helps promote bile excretion from the liver so the body can more efficiently process foods while also purging harmful toxins. Improved bile flow also makes it possible for the body to better metabolize fat.

DANDELION ROOT: In traditional Chinese and Native American medicine, dandelion root has long been used to treat stomach, skin and liver conditions. Modern studies show dandelion root may be useful in the prevention and treatment of cancer; and prevents damage to the liver caused by toxicities. It has also proven to be effective against certain strains of bacteria that are responsible for staph infections and food-borne illness, and can help block bacterial growths to prevent skin infections. It is an excellent source of inulin, a potent prebiotic fiber that "feeds" beneficial bacteria in the gut contributing to a more diverse and healthy gut microbiota.

MILK THISTLE SEED: Milk thistle is of the most potent liver cleansing and liver supportive herbs known. One of the key active ingredients in milk thistle is called silymarin which has unique antioxidant properties that have a powerful effect on liver function; inhibits the binding of toxins to the liver, reduces liver injury and also aids in reliving the symptoms associated with indigestion.

FENNEL SEED: Quickly works to soothe gas, bloating, and helps to regulate the bowels. Fennel seeds are a nutritious food source important minerals including magnesium, potassium, and manganese. HANDLING: Store in a cool, dry place.

FEEDING: We strongly recommend a fresh, whole foods diet for optimal health. Feed herbs 5-days/week or 3 weeks-on/1-week off for best results. Add 1 Tbs. to each pound of fresh food being consumed or add to 100 ml of warm liquid (water, raw goat milk or bone broth). It will congeal and thicken; make thicker or thinner as per your preference by adding more or less liquid. This is a nourishing herbal FOOD that is very safe.

CAUTION: Peppermint may interfere with homeopathic remedies - consult your homeopath before using. Individuals may experience negative or allergic reactions to any product. Should this happen, discontinue use.
