BPC-157

for dogs & cats

MUSCLE, JOINT, Heart, brain & GUT SUPPORT

OVERVIEW

BPC-157, a peptide composed of 15 amino acids, is a partial sequence of body protection compound (BPC) that is discovered in and isolated from human gastric juice, known for its potential to support repair, recovery, and various health benefits. It has been studied for its role in tendon repair, gastric ulcer healing, inflammation reduction, and neuroprotection.

BPC-157 has unique oral bioavailability. Unlike other peptides, it is highly effective when taken orally rather than via injection or nasal spray.

There are two dosages available in capsules from Infiniwell: a 250 mcg dose, ideal for those needing maintenance; and a 500 mcg dose, a higher potency that can be leveraged as a loading dose or applied to cases where more support is needed. The standard formulation of 250 mcg is recommended for use in dogs & cats.

In addition to the standard BPC-157 formulation, there are two time-release formula options (rapid and delayed) that combine BPC-157 with Salcaprozate Sodium (SNAC) to enhance absorption and support the body's ability to utilize the desired dosage.

SNAC is listed as “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) for human consumption by the FDA. Safety of SNAC in dogs and cats in unknown.

The rapid release formula is typically for upper GI applications and is more appropriate for acute needs.

The delayed release works as ongoing support and is intended to reach the lower intestines without succumbing to the harsh environment of the upper digestive system.

DOSAGE FOR DOGS & CATS

The current recommendation is to go by the dosage protocol for an average sized human, to calculate the amount per pound, and then apply the same mcg/lb dosage to your pet.

Typical suggested dose for a 150 lb person is 250-500 mcg of BPC-157 orally each day (1.67- 3.33 mcg per lb body weight). This can be calculated for use in pets as follows:

BPC-157 For Pets

BPC-157, short for Body Protection Compound 157, is a naturally occurring peptide chain composed of 15 amino acids. It's found in our digestive systems – including those of our canine companions.

How does BPC-157 work?

  • Promotes Growth Factors:BPC-157 may promote the production of growth factors, which are molecules that act as signals to cells, stimulating repair and renewal. It might especially influence a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which plays a role in creating new blood vessels.
  • Reduces Inflammation: Inflammation is a normal part of the healing process, but excessive inflammation can hinder recovery and contribute to chronic conditions. BPC-157 has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties potentially helping manage discomfort.
  • Supports Collagen Synthesis:Collagen is a major structural protein in tendons, ligaments, and skin. BPC-157 may help encourage collagen production, potentially aiding in tissue strength and health.
  • Promotes Blood Flow:Healthy blood circulation is crucial for delivering oxygen and nutrients to injured or damaged areas. BPC-157's potential influence on blood vessel formation suggests a positive impact on circulation as well.

Potential Benefits of BPC-157 for Pets

  • Injury Recovery: accelerates the healing process for various injuries due to its multi-faceted beneficial effects.
  • Muscle, Tendon, and Ligament Support:just like humans, pets can experience strain or damage to connective tissues such as the CCL/ACL. BPC-157's collagen-boosting and inflammation-managing effects have shown it to be of great benefit to individuals considering surgical treatment. In many cases, the results are significant enough that the individual is able to forgo surgery.
  • Gastrointestinal Health: originally found in human gastric juice, it's not surprising that research has focused on the impact BPC-157 has on repairing and regulating the digestive system. It could be helpful for pet’s with inflammatory conditions of the gut, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
  • Age-Related Decline:aging can make mammals less energetic, and all animals may experience age-related mobility issues. By supporting connective tissue health and overall well-being, BPC-157 could help enhance quality of life in seniors.

Research into BPC-157 is ongoing, and more studies focusing specifically on pets are needed to fully understand the range of benefits it may have to offer.

ADMINISTRATION

BPC-157 given orally (capsules) has received attention as a potential treatment for a number of medical conditions, most notably Inflammatory bowel syndrome and healing of stomach ulcers.

Given by injection, research has shown benefits for musculoskeletal injuries, such as injuries of tendons and ligaments, muscle injuries, nerve injuries, bone fractures, tendinopathies like tennis elbow or Achilles tendinopathy.

Because BPC enhances the nitric oxide pathway, which is a vasodilator, more oxygen is delivered to the muscles, and oxygen exchange in the lungs is enhanced, BPC might improve endurance.

It also has been used to decrease pain in damaged tissues, making it a possible alternative to opioid drugs.

Oral Capsules: Capsules are designed for easy digestion and offer a convenient option. Open capsules and mix the peptide powder with a meal or snack that provides some fat and protein.

Do Capsules Work?

BPC-157 capsules are a common way to provide the peptide for pets. However, other methods (such as injection or nasal sprays) may be considered more effective due to direct delivery. However, as of this time, injections of BPC-157 are no longer permitted by the FDA; this is a recent change.

Fortunately, research suggests that BPC-157 can support healing, reduce inflammation, and promote collagen synthesis, whether taken orally or via injection.  Just note that the bioavailability and effectiveness of oral capsules compared to injections can vary, and further studies are needed to fully understand this.

Is BPC-157 safe?

Current research suggests that BPC-157 considered safe for humans and other animals including dogs. Of course, as with any supplement or medication, it's always crucial to consult with your veterinarian before giving BPC-157. This is especially important if your pet has any underlying health conditions or is taking other medications.

KPV

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Accelerates cutaneous wound healing
  • Promotes gut health

KPV is a naturally occurring tri-peptide that consists of Lysine, Proline, and Valine. It is found at the end terminal of the alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), which is produced by the pituitary gland. This pept1-mediated tripeptide KPV is able to exert its effect in the body through the PepT1 transporter, which is normally expressed in the small intestine

  • Promotes a balanced immune response and supports healthy mast cell function.
  • Substantially well-known for its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. It has pronounced effects on your gut as well as skin health.
  • A potent anti-inflammatory substance which suppresses NFκB, a proinflammatory cytokine and therefore inhibits inflammation and the drastic effects that are followed by it.
  • Exerts antimicrobial properties, protecting the body from opportunistic infections.
  • Modulates collagen deposition to reduce scarring while speeding up the process of wound healing.

Anti-Inflammatory Effects

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, most of its effects can be observed in patients with autoimmune diseases that are usually characterized by inflammation. Perhaps the anti-inflammatory effects are more prominently seen in the human gastrointestinal tract, as human trials involving KPV have shown that it can potentially treat inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).

One such subtype of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is Ulcerative Colitis, a chronic, relapsing inflammatory disease of the colon in which inflammation impairs the colonic mucosal barrier and increases the chance of bacterial invasion into underlying tissues. KPV alleviates inflammation and promotes mucosal healing, thereby preventing further damage (6).

Treating Allergies

KPV has proven to be effective in targeting airway inflammation in lung diseases, thus making it a useful therapy for inflammatory pulmonary disease. This also theoretically makes KPV effective in treating allergic reactions as well (8).

Considering the cosmetic benefits of KPV, it can be used to treat cutaneous wounds with minimal scarring alongside other dermatologic conditions. Moreover, this tripeptide KPV is also known for its improved cutaneous wound healing characteristics. This may include allergic contact dermatitis and psoriatic syndromes that may be characterized by itching, inflammation, and redness of the skin.
