WARNING: DO NOT FEED RAW.
COOK ALL WILD BOAR meat to an internal temperature of 160°F. Freezing does NOT kill the pseudorabies virus.
Wild boar carry the risk of a herpesvirus virus called pseudorabies (also known as Aujezsky’s disease, suid herpesvirus 1, and infectious bulbar paralysis), a highly contagious disease of swine that is fatal in domestic species of animals, including dogs and cats. Pseudorabies is rare, but fatal in dogs/cats.
Perhaps the most flavorful solution to environmental degradation, our wild boar is harvested from invasive free range animals that cause over $2.5 billion dollars in annual damage. With numbers at around 5 million, these feral pigs represent the last species of truly wild land animals that can be harvested to feed a growing human population. Leaner in composition and more flavorful than farmed pork, our wild pigs are rich in flavor and guaranteed to become your new favorite meat. Try using our ground wild boar in exchange of other proteins in your favorite recipe. Conservation focused. Wild caught. Eat more invasive species!
