Wild boar carry the risk of a herpesvirus virus called pseudorabies (also known as Aujezsky’s disease, suid herpesvirus 1, and infectious bulbar paralysis), a highly contagious disease of swine that is fatal in domestic species of animals, including dogs and cats. Pseudorabies is rare, but fatal in dogs/cats.
