Looking for the best source of omega-3s? THIS IS IT! Wild Salmon Roe are the single BEST source of omega-3s DHA & EPA. This whole food from wild salmon is our preferred omega supplement for those that can consume salmon/fish. For those that have dietary restrictions against eating salmon, we reccomend either the MarinePhytoplankton or our Red Gold supplement as your best sources oof omega3s. Second to this would be to incorporate other healthy pasture-raied and wild fats such as traditionally produced ghee, duck, bison, beef, emu, goose, duck and pork fat. We also have the Standard Process Calamari oil, which is another nice omega3 option. Our suggestion is to rotate and use a few different ones -- they each have unique nutritional profiles with health benefits.

Salmon roe are packed full of important nutrients with content of Omega-3 fatty acids being 3.5 times the amount in wild salmon, which is considered one of the highest Omega-3 species. In addition, the roe from salmon contains approximately 38%-75% of their omega-3 fatty acids in phospholipid form, mostly present in phosphatidylcholine. Compare that to salmon which only contain approximately 1% of its omega-3 in phospholipid form. For pregnancy and young mammals (humans, dogs & cats), it is important to the developing brain which prefers DHA in phospholipid form. This form of DHA accumulates in the developing brain 10-times more than DHA in free fatty acid form.

Salmon Roe also contain a healthy amount of antioxidants and vitamins B12, C, E, and D, as well as folate, thiamine, and selenium. One ounce salmon roe contains 6 grams of protein. People usually spend lots of money trying to get this combination of vitamins artificially, when it is readily available in salmon roe, one of the lowest cost caviar options available.

Wild salmon roe is a natural and potent source of astaxanthin – an highly beneficial antioxidant compound that gives salmon its natural red/pink color. In human studies, astaxanthin reduces biomarkers of oxidative stress which may lead to the enjoyment of a longer, more youthful and healthier lifespan!

While salmon roe is a great source of nutrients, many people enjoy it simply for it’s taste. TRY it!
